How to hookup the PIKO G Scale Switch Boxes:

1) Raise the back cover to expose the connector blocks on the rear of your switch box

Each type of switch box includes a rear mounted internal wiring diagram showing 3 Power Bus power in/out connections at the rear and at each side of the switch box.

2) Wire each of the 4 output terminals to a switch motor or pair of switch motors or other loads

The wiring diagram illustrates the PIKO three way Power Bus inside. The power bus is full wave rectified to a DC voltage for powering the boxes LED status light and also each of the 4 outputs that supply positive or negative polarity DC voltage depending if the top or bottom of each switch is pushed. This unique design allows either AC or DC power to be used to power your switch motors, signals, cranes or other bipolar powered accessories.

3) Connect the black power input terminal block with 18 AWG wire to an AC or DC power source such as our pure DC power supplies (see our store for details)

The Black power input terminal is not polarity sensitive and can be powered from AC or DC

4) Turn on your power supply, notice that the green LED glows indicating power is present.

All PIKO switch boxes feature large counter sunk mounting holes for optional permanent mounting.

5) Push the top and bottom of each switch to operate your devices..

When both the rear and front protective covers are lowered the switch box is weather proofed.

How to hookup Additional PIKO G Scale Switch Boxes:

a) Turn off the power to your PIKO box and note that the green LED is off.

PIKO 35260 Monentary Switch Box
The rubber plug that protects the power bus connections on each side of the PIKO switch boxes provide easy expansion by powering and securing multiple switch boxes together.

b) Remove the rubber plug on either side of your switch box and insert the two high amperage power bus connectors into each of the bus power sockets.

Q&A:

Questions from our customers & Answers from our Engineers at the Shourt Line:

Q: Can ;I power the switch box from the same Shourt Line pure DC power supply that I use for running trains?
A: Yes, this PIKO line of switch boxes is unique in allowing the power input to be either DC or AC at 24 volts maximum.

Q: Can I wire two switch motors to one output?
A: Yes, this is quite normal and the 3 amp output current is good for up to 3 motors per output.

Q: Can I use a switch decoder and a PIKO 35260 Switch Control Box to control the same switch motor?
A: Yes, but you need to use a relay to isolate the two systems. A 24 Volt 2 pole 2 throw (2P2T) relay is required such as the Shourt Line 4128110 SL-RLY-2P4T-5A-24VDC Relay and socket.. Contact us for wiring details.

Q: How do I choose which type of switch box for my application?
A: For ON/OFF control of lights and other devices you want to stay on without holding down the switch use the PIKO 35261 On-Off Control Box and for devices that require only monetary power or both positive and negative polarity such as switch track (points) motors use the PIKO 35260 Switch Control Box.
