The Model
Features:
This type of special car can be found on maintenance trains used for general repairs, crash recovery, track laying, overhead line construction and tunnel construction. Both axles of this car are fitted with metal wheels. These collect the voltage for the lighting circuitry. A built-in 5-volt electronic voltage stabilizer keeps the searchlight shining at constant brightness.
The LGB Maintenance train Searchlight Car is fitted with a reflector that can be manually rotated through 180 deg0 and tilted through 220 deg. The reflector can be raised by 35 mm via an adjusting screw. The reflector is mounted onto a pedestal into which the On/Off switch for the searchlight is fitted. A wooden toolbox is mounted in front of the searchlight pedestal. The lid of the toolbox can be removed to enable two 1.5 volt, AA-type batteries to be fitted. These batteries supply the searchlight with power when the car is stationary.

Alkaline-Manganese battery I.E.C. No. LR 6 AA-type x 2. LGB recommends that if the battery is not used for longer periods it should be removed from the wagon. This prevents battery leakages from damaging the valuable electronics. If the searchlight is used frequently or for long periods, rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries can be used. Follow the recharging instructions supplied by the battery manufacturer.The working platform on the tower can be turned. To turn the platform, the platform should be lifted slightly and then turned. When operating this car remember that it is 220 mm high. Check for adequate clearance through tunnels and under bridges.
