- Use 1 each PIKO LED Lighting Kit PIKO 36132 (1 each per coach) Not included with coach
- Use 1 and 1/3 each PIKO Metal wheel sets P 36163 (4 axles needed per coach) Not included with coach
- Sand the inside flange on each wheel as shown on the left axle shown below
This allows current to flow from each rail to the LED circuit
- Open the LED lighting kit and read directions before continuing assembly.
- Remove the plastic wheels that come with the coach and insert the L shaped power pins into each side of the truck and secure with brass power pickup bars and screws.
- Insert PIKO metal wheels (part P 36163) noting the power pickup bars touch the sanded bare metal of each wheel.
- Optionally install a 1000uF to 3,300uF 35 volt electrolytic capacitor on the PIKO LED circuit board as shown below for anti-flicker with dirty rails and frogs on switch points (tracks). Included with Shourt Line installation.
- Insert the supplied wire with connectors at each end of the circuit board as shown above and note that the brown wires must be on the same side of the circuit board at each end of the board.
- Follow instructions to remove screws from bottom of the coach and remove the floor and the two interior seating sections to expose the inside roof of the coach.
- Place the PIKO LED strip inside the roof of the car as shown below
- Route the wires through the hole in to bottom of each interior seat section as shown below.
- Place each section back into the coach noting that the LED circuit board is held in place by the seating section and that the power leads come out of the hole in the plastic and that they reach nearly the lettering on embossed on the bottom of the section as shown below.
- Connect the wires to the pins assembled in step 4 above being sure to place the brown wires on the same side of the coach as shown below
- Route the wires into the embossed channel shown above and secure with small pieces of tape
- Replace the bottom of the coach and note that it sets properly on the coach shell and interior sections. Replace the screws and test the coach on your track for lighting when power is applied to the rails.
- Enjoy your LED tack powered coach!
